Ermac

Completed 02/07/2015

“We are Ermac. We are the fusion of the souls of dead warriors, created by Shao Kahn to obey him without question.”

Ermac’s MK: Deception version is when I really took notice of this ninja. I love the costume design and wanted to capture that iconic “floating” pose.

Body: Wire armature. Needed him to be light since he would be suspended, so I bulked out with aluminum foil and wrapped in foil tape.

Head: Head-cast from the bin. I chose one with a furrowed brow.
Sculpt: I mixed together Super Sculpey and Sculpey Firm and used that for the entire body, arms and legs.

I used Aves to sculpt the head-wraps and all of the costume details on the body, arms and legs. Hands and feet are from the bin. I dremeled all of the detail out of the feet and sculpted Ermac’s shoes using Aves.

Bendable Sculpey was used for the floating straps.

Panthro

Completed 12/5/2014

Panthro (Classic Style)

Base: UFC Figure
Head: Chuck Liddell
Below knees: WWE calves and feet

I dremeled away Chuck's 'screaming' expression and sculpted all of Panthro's head/facial features.

I bulked up his arms and sculpted all of the costume details with Aves.

Nunchuks are scratch built. Sanded then painted.

It's crazy but the part I got most excited about was the spikes.

The Blacksmith

Completed 10/31/2014

“When you forge a weapon you need three things: the right metal, temperatures over fourteen hundred degrees and someone who wants to kill. Here in Jungle Village… we got all three.”

Head: Mcfarlane NBA Series 20 Kobe Bryant (cast)
Body: Jakks Pacific UFC Deluxe Series 4 Jamie Varner. Right fist from another UFC figure.

Knees down: Mattel’s WWE Elite Series 1 MVP
Sanded down torso, forearms, fists, crotch and legs.
Sculpted head mods, coat collar/hood/lapels, undershirt, belt, crotch/legs...

...and of course the IRON FISTS!!!!

Invincible: Zandale Randolph

Completed 12/07/2013

Bonus figure I made for the 2013 Secret Santa Exchange.

In researching the character, I discovered that there were two people that donned this outfit. Zandale Randolph apparently took up the costume after Mark Grayson was badly injured from an epic battle. I felt it was a perfect opportunity for a double-figure gift!

Head: McFarlane Navy Seal Headcast
Base: ML full body cast
Sculpt: Aves Apoxie Sculpt.

Now this figure was a straight kitbash of resin cast parts. I broke apart, sawed, drilled, patched, sculpted, smoothed and sanded this guy together and finished with some paint. Mounted him on a wooden display stand and off he went to his new owner.

Invincible: Mark Grayson

Completed 12/07/2013

This figure was made for a fellow customizer as part of an annual Secret Santa Exchange.

I was not familiar with this guy at all, so I jumped into research mode. One thing I pulled from that was… Invincible is a pretty violent comic!!

ML Constrictor was the base

Popped on a head cast of a Smallville Clark Kent
Aves sculpt was used for the hair, ears, mask, knees and forearms.

Rival Clan

Completed 10/15/2013

The Warrior’s Way

The Director of this film, Sngmoo Lee, must have said “I’m going to create the most Bad-A$$ opening scene, ever.” And I think he got it. The first few minutes of the movie set the style and tone to an epically beautiful piece of cinematic work.

In those moments we see these guys leaping out of the water, ready to attack. It was sooo freaking cool!!  I knew right away, I wanted to capture that.

Constructed a wire armature and bent it into position.

Began by laying up the anatomy and then worked the costume fabric wrinkles on the arms and legs with the polymer clay.

Switched to Aves for all of the detail-work. The right hand was sculpted right onto the sword and then attached at the wrist. Left hand was cast from a mold then attached. The hair dreads were sculpted from flexible sculpey and then attached.

This guy comes with a wooden display stand and a brass rod to suspend him in the air.
